HCI for Machine Learning Project. Directed by Takeo Igarashi (The University of Tokyo). Funded by JST CREST.

Responsibilities

The goal of this project is to develop technologies that help people to use (train, understand and control) machine learning technologies. A member is expected to perform original research to achieve this goal, by designing new user interfaces and innovative systems, building convincing prototypes, and publishing the results at major international venues.

Qualifications Full-time positions: A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related subjects (or equivalent research experience). Demonstrated capability for performing original research in the intersection of human-computer interaction, machine learning, visualiation, graphics, and other related areas. We are especially looking for candidates with the following exprience and interest.

  • - Human-computer ineraction with interest in machine learning
  • - Machine learning with interest in HCI and Graphics
  • - Information visualization and visual analytics

Short-term positions: Graduate students in computer science or related area. We also consider undergrads with competitive reserch and/or development skill.

Term of Contract Full-time positions: The position is for one year, renewable annually up to March 2023 based on performance evaluation.

Short-term positions: The term is flexible, usually 3 to 6 months. We provide travel expense for the stay with some extra compensation.

Salary

Competitive salary will be offered based on regulation of the University of Tokyo.
