This study tried to propose a new symmetry detection algorithm for freehand shapes. It uses a feature point matching technique to minimize the effect of the irregularity of freehand strokes.

Why was this study aborted?

The result was not so better than expected. In addition, we would rarely need any algorithm specialized in freehand shapes. We might resume this research if a sketch-based application requires our algorithm.
